Retail property specialist TILLI City Immobilien brokered the lease for a new 850 m2 store at Die-trichstrasse 50 in Trier for outdoor specialist Globe-trotter. Globetrotter is planning to open its new store at the premises formerly occupied by Mambo Möbel in spring 2022.
The Globetrotter deal is a signal to retail experts Elisabeth Michalowski and Tina Maren Below that the city centre retail property market situation is returning to normal. Even though COVID-19 more or less brought the market to a standstill for more than a year, the much-feared one-way exodus out of the city centres has not happened, and the number of retailers at-tempting to secure retail space again is on the rise. However, according to the two managing partners, a different branch mix is driving demand. Only a few years ago, almost half of the demand was accounted for by clothing retailers. Today, there is more demand from restaurant and café operators and food retail-ers.
